Rehabilitation is a word that strikes fear into the hearts of people who really should be trusting in these programs. They have some very negative ideas about the very idea of rehabilitation that makes them adverse to the entire concept. However, you need to know that this will do anybody more harm than good and that these programs have been established in the way that they are to help people reprogram their thoughts and lives and live happy and productive lives while enjoying good health. Here are some of the most commonly heard complaints about rehabilitation that make people really dislike them.
They Are Rude to You Always and Treat You Like A Junkie
It’s actually the opposite of this in any proper rehabilitation program. If you are referring to the fact that they will not allow anybody to bring you anything from outside and if they check your room and the like that is not because they think you are an untrustworthy addict and that they hate you. They do so because they know through experience what substance abuse can do to people. Your body will be so pushed by your mind to the point that you would be willing to do just about anything to have that next hit and that’s why they check everything to make sure that you don’t continue to ruin your life. They are not blaming you, they are not being rude to you. Before you realize your problem and start working with them your withdrawal symptoms will start acting up and they simply want to make sure that you stay clean throughout.
You Can’t Keep Up Appearances
Fear of what others will think and say and what will happen if you cannot keep up appearances is one of the most common reasons why people do not get into drug & alcohol rehabs. It doesn’t matter that your entire life and future are going up in flames if you can just keep up appearances. Don’t think about what others will think, they do not matter. The people who matter are the ones who are affected and in pain because of your addiction. Do it for them. You are in pain because of your addiction, so do it for yourself. The rest of the world is inconsequential.
It Is Like Going to Prison
Why do you think that rehabilitation is a prison? Prison is where somebody has been put in as punishment for a particular crime that they did. Rehabilitation is where you go so they can help you overcome a debilitating condition that harms you both physically and mentally. Yes, there may be ways to say these are both similar if you really want to but isn’t the difference a rather outstanding one? Rehabilitation is not prison. Not everything that they show in the movies is true. Give yourself the best possible chance to recover, don’t make excuses for yourself. You will be the first person to suffer the negative consequences of that. Do actual research before jumping to conclusions.
